Crescent City Stamp Club

History

The Crescent City Stamp Club was organized formally on the 14th of April 1932 for the purpose of advancing the cause of philately, through educational programs and exhibits and to participate in philatelic activities. At present, the club has 4 elected officers and 8 additional members on the Board of Directors. We have approximately 60 active members. The general membership is not from only the southeastern area. Some of them live in California, Massachusetts, Ireland and Germany. Among them are several accredited philatelic judges, a National Officer of the United States Philatelic Classics Society, Vice President and Trustee of the American Philatelic Research Library and recognized experts in almost every area of philately. Although our membership is small compared to other national philatelic organizations, we maintain a visible presence in the Philatelic community through sponsorships and donations to several National and International Philatelic organizations.

Today, several of our members "show" at philatelic exhibitions both nationally and internationally with successful competitive results. Areas of expertise among the membership that have been and are shared through published articles and exhibitions are as follows: United States Classic Stamps, U. S. Classic Stamp Cancellations, U. S. Bank Note plating and printing. The Issues of U. S. 1851; 1869; The Bank Note Era; and Fancy Cancels have been specifically addressed nationally. Our membership also includes postal historians who have expertise not only in many facets of United States postal history but also in Russian, Spanish Antilles, British Colonies and General Worldwide issues.

If you have an interest in any areas of our expertise, please drop a line to us via the hyperlink below and we shall pass it on to an appropriate member. Although we cannot guarantee an answer to all questions, we shall try to provide information as to where an answer can be found.
